Administrators from all fourteen nations and divisional directors have assembled for the commencement of the Mid-Year Meeting, with the subject "Abide in His Altar," on May 2-3, 2023, at the Life Hope Impact Center in Silang, Cavite.

The Mid-Year Meeting seeks to re-evaluate the progress and challenges of the Seventh-day Adventist Church's work in SSD territory. It also allows leaders to communicate and collaborate, exchanging insights and solutions for attaining the purpose. This gathering will also address plans, tactics, and realignments targeted at strengthening the mission of the church.

The Mid-Year Meeting, with the subject "Abide in His Altar," seeks to remind leaders of the significance of staying focused on the mission and empowering every member of the church to be part of the Lord's work. The subject is based on John 15:4-5, which states, "Abide in Me, and I in you." You cannot bear fruit unless you abide in Me, just as the branch cannot give fruit unless it abides in the vine. I'm the vine, and you're the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him brings abundant fruit; for you can accomplish nothing without Me."

SSD administrators welcomed the attendees, who included union administrators and departmental directors, during the opening ceremony. Pastor Roger Caderma, SSD president, began the meeting with a reminder and conviction of the church's mission statement of making disciples, being God's loving witnesses, and proclaiming to all people the everlasting gospel of the Three Angel's Messages in preparation for His soon return. 

Pastor Caderma underlined the significance of abiding in Christ in his welcome remarks, adding that it is the key to success in the Seventh-day Adventist Church's mission.

"'Abide in His Altar' is more than a slogan or catchphrase. "It's a powerful reminder that our mission's success is dependent on our relationship with Christ," Pastor Caderma stated. "As we gather here today, let us commit to remaining rooted in Christ, laying a firm foundation in Him, and cooperating in the church's mission."

One of the meeting’s highlights was the development of new attached institutions to fulfill expanding mission initiatives in the SSD's least-reached areas.

SSD leaders value the need of reaching out to these disadvantaged populations and are committed to collaborating to establish successful strategies to support and empower these mission fields. 

Another highlight of the sessions was the emphasis on young people’s involvement in the church's different activities. The SSD Youth Department presented a number of initiatives aimed at empowering young people and encouraging them to join in the church's mission. The department underlined the importance of providing greater chances for young people to use their talents and skills to help others and make a difference in their communities.

"The involvement of young people is critical to the success of our mission," said SSD Youth Director Pastor Ron Genebago. "We need to create more avenues for them to actively participate in the work of the church and make a difference in the lives of others."

The meetings also featured an update on the status of other ongoing mission efforts in SSD territory. The leaders gave information about new church plants, evangelistic campaigns, and community service activities.

The Mid-Year Meeting is an important event on the SSD calendar because it allows leaders to reflect on their accomplishments thus far and plan for the future. The event also serves as a reminder of the value of teamwork and working toward a common goal.

The SSD leadership thanked all delegates for their attendance and contributions to the Mid-Year Meeting. They also expressed optimism that the gathering would be beneficial and act as a catalyst for renewed dedication and passion for the Seventh-day Adventist Church's ministry in the SSD region.
