In a momentous development for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Philippines (SPUC), the South Philippines Union Conference has officially dissolved to pave the way for the establishment of two vibrant and purpose-driven entities. This highly significant decision, endorsed by an overwhelming majority during a special online constituency meeting held on October 26, aligns with the recent approval by the General Conference Executive Committee to bifurcate the South Philippines region.

With more than two-thirds of the SPUC Constituency members unanimously supporting the dissolution, the Southwestern Philippine Union Conference (SWPUC) and the Southeastern Philippine Union Mission (SEPUM) are set to emerge as powerful forces in advancing the mission of the church moving forward.

The crucial next steps in this historic process include the formation of the Constituency Meeting members and the appointment of administrators and directors for SEPUM on December 3–4 and for SWPUC on December 5-7, 2023. These carefully planned activities aim to ensure a seamless transition and lay the foundation for the impactful work that lies ahead.

Pastor Roger Caderma, president of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD), shared a succinct yet inspiring message during this transformative occasion. He underscored the bifurcation as a tangible testament to God's ongoing work in Mindanao, urging all members to wholeheartedly embrace their mission as an integral part of His divine plan. With this firm belief, he emphasized the boundless potential for growth, outreach, and congregational strengthening that this historic development brings, stating, "This moment marks the dawn of a new chapter, where we unite under God's guidance to further our purpose and expand our impact."
