The Seventh-day Adventist Church Manual 21st Edition Revised 2025 is an authoritative statement of the Church’s understanding of its organization, governance, and beliefs. Adopted and revised by the General Conference in Session, it reflects the collective prayer, study, and deliberation of a worldwide representative body seeking to remain faithful to Scripture and to the mission entrusted to the Church.
More than a guide to order and procedure, the Church Manual is an expression of Adventist identity. It embodies the theological convictions, the fundamental beliefs, ecclesiastical values, and missional commitments that unite Seventh-day Adventists as a global faith community. Rooted in the authority of the Bible, and informed by the prophetic heritage of the Adventist movement, the Manual provides a framework through which the Church lives out its calling in an orderly, united, and mission-focused manner.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church understands itself as a people called by God to proclaim the everlasting gospel to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people, in anticipation of the soon return of our Lord Jesus Christ (see Revelation 14:6-12). This distinctive mission requires both spiritual vitality and organizational faithfulness. The Church Manual supports this responsibility by fostering unity in belief and practice, while allowing for appropriate cultural adaptation within the bounds of biblical principle and world church policy.
Unity does not imply uniformity, nor does organization replace the primacy of Scripture or the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Rather, the Church Manual serves as a unifying instrument of shared accountability, enabling the local Church to function harmoniously with all the churches around the world, safeguarding doctrinal integrity, fostering Adventist Identity, and maintaining trust among its members and leaders both locally and worldwide.
In a time of rapid change and increasing complexity, faithfulness to Adventist identity requires intentional commitment to the decisions of the world Church as expressed through the General Conference in Session. The Church Manual provides stability, clarity, and continuity, ensuring that local practice remains connected to the collective life and mission of the global body.
Administrators, pastors, church officers, and members are therefore encouraged to receive the Church Manual not merely as a regulatory document but as a reflection of our shared identity and mission as Seventh-day Adventists. When studied, respected, and applied in the spirit in which it is given, the Church Manual strengthens unity, nurtures faithfulness, and advances the mission of the Church in every part of the world.
May this Manual continue to serve the Seventh-day Adventist Church as a faithful guide, under God, as we seek to glorify Him, serve humanity, and prepare a people for the soon return of Jesus Christ, ensuring that we remain “Grounded in the Bible, Focused on the Mission.”
