The Adventist Church in Southern Asia-Pacific (SSD) readies for its annual mid-year meeting scheduled from May 6th to 7th, 2024. Hosted at the Life Hope Impact Center in Silang, Cavite, Philippines, the meeting will bring together administrative leaders from Adventist organizations and representatives from various Adventist institutions in SSD. This important gathering aims to address key matters and strategize for the future missional initiatives of the church, emphasizing on unity and collaboration within the Adventist community.

The upcoming two-day meeting aims to address and reaffirm some crucial agenda items deliberated upon during the previous General Conference Spring Council, convened at the Adventist Church Headquarters in Maryland, and mission initiatives in the Southern Asia-Pacific region.

Among these is the global church's response to fortify the spiritual grounding of its members in their faith in the Bible. A recent survey conducted within the General Conference has revealed the presence of diverse biblical interpretations circulating within our congregations, presenting a challenge to the unity of our beliefs. This concern underscores the immediate need to develop comprehensive strategies aimed at educating and instilling biblical truths, especially among the younger demographic.

A profound engagement with the Holy Scriptures, coupled with a robust foundation drawn from the Spirit of Prophecy, stands as a potent reference point in realigning the church with the teachings of the Bible.

"We must retrace our steps to the origins of our faith, finding guidance in the timeless truths on every page of the Bible," remarked Pastor Ian Felicitas, newly appointed Field Secretary of the Adventist Church in the Southern Asia-Pacific region.

As part of a deliberate effort to reshape the church's messaging and effectively connect with its target audience, the Adventist Church, along with its diverse media platforms, is convening discussions to devise strategies for tailored outreach to various segments of society.

As SSD continues to grow, initiatives to expand and establish organizations are also in the works to better address the cultural and spiritual needs of members and communities in various regions around this diverse territory.

The SSD Mid-Year Meeting will receive esteemed leaders from General Conference Associate Secretary Samuel Saw, and Director of the Center for East Asian Religions, Khamsay Phetchareun. GC Vice President Audrey Anderson is expected to join the meeting on Tuesday morning, May 7th.
