Continuous severe rains in Manado early Friday morning, January 27, 2023, caused widespread floods and landslides in the surrounding region. Thousands of inhabitants have been displaced as a result of the disaster, and they are presently migrating to higher land in search of a safe haven away from the raging waves. The North Sulawesi Regional Police and Basarnas moved quickly to examine how they might offer support and assist families impacted by the influx. The city remains under an emergency while search and rescue activities continue.

According to the Manado Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), flooding occurred at 40 locations located over 25 urban communities. Landslides and fallen trees also struck nine of these sub-districts. Many people were carried away by flood currents and lost their houses due to the floods and landslides.

MHM (Manado Health Ministry) and Tikala congregation, BWA (BaktiI Women Advent) Manado City participated in the distribution of basic necessities and food on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Kampung Pisang, Kairagi. Mr. Frans R. Muntuuntu,  Likke Chandra, Pastor Markus Rolangon, The Kairagi Congregation, and the person in charge, Pastor Jim Mamarimbing, pastor of the Tikala Congregation, and other members of MHM, started this action.

The regional heads of the Manado and North Maluku Conferences, Pastor Ronny Neman, Executive Secretary, and wife, also had the chance to participate in this CARE OF LOVE activity. Lersy Kusen, Pastor Jefry Bakulu, Adventist Youth Director, Mr. Brandes Lasut, Director of Education, and Dr. Glady Rambert are among those who have been appointed.

This action helped the flooded victims, who felt aided and blessed by the visit and humanitarian compassion. This action demonstrates God's people's unity as they await the Lord's second coming.
