After years of planning and preparation, the Risk Management Services Conference finally took place. Spearheaded by the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, the two-day conference transpired at the newly established Life Hope Impact Center in Silang, Cavite, Philippines, on September 27-28, 2022. Delegates from different organizations and institutions within the Southern Asia-Pacific region convened to learn and understand how risk management works and how it benefits the church's ministry. Inspired by the theme CONNECTED, attendees interacted and exchanged ideas to proactively attend to risks in ministry and find ways to develop service for their clients. This division-wide risk management conference was realized even before the pandemic, but the meeting was rescheduled due to the worldwide crisis. 

Resource speakers from the Adventist Risk Management, Inc, head office in Maryland, and from the Adventist Risk Management, Inc regional office in Brazil graced the meeting in support of expanding and exploring ministry possibilities for risk management in this territory. James Winegardner, president and Chief Executive Officer of Adventist Risk Management, Inc., conveyed his appreciation for the initiative to plan and organize this meeting to educate the church on how it can benefit from this service.

“Our ministry is to protect your ministry, that is the Adventist Risk Management promise, and we give our best to deliver,” Winegardner said. “The innovation and planning invested in this program are inspiring, and I pray that this conference will provide an in-depth understanding of what risk management is for the church,” he added.

This initiative equips risk management personnel in different Adventist institutions and organizations on its importance and usability. The main objective of this meeting is to share a management plan that will provide a safe environment for worship, work, studies, and friendship. This also encourages leaders to have proactive security planning that prioritizes protection for various denominational activities.

“We are all prone to risks, and as individuals who are involved in different ministries, it is our goal to provide security and protection to our church’s ministry,” said Darlene Adap, director for Risk Management Services in the Southern Asia-Pacific Division. “We desire to create awareness and discernment in establishing best practices to prepare for uncertainties within our organization. Risk Management is an effective corporate strategy not only for the organization’s security but also for the safety of its people,” Adap added.

The Southern Asia-Pacific Division Risk Management Services, in collaboration with the Adventist Risk Management®, Inc. (ARM) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, working closely together with a purpose to create awareness and inculcate the necessity in Adventist organizations and institutions on how an entity can prepare and establish security for their respective ministries.
