Every Member a Missionary: The Great Harvest in Southeast Asia

Mission Updates November 10, 2025

Harvest 2025
The year 2025 has been declared as the Year of Spiritual Harvest, and across the Southeastern Asia Union Mission (SEUM) territory — covering Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and the western Thailand region bordering Myanmar — God’s hand has been mightily at work. Today, we give glory to God for what He has done through His church in this great harvest movement.

Progress Report
Across the SEUM territory, there are 177 organized churches and 379 companies. We praise God that 93% of these churches have actively conducted evangelism, spreading the gospel message through public campaigns, small groups, Bible studies, and personal witnessing. Our total membership stands at 46,369, and we thank the Lord that 70% of them are involved in evangelism of various kinds. Indeed, this is a living church — one that believes every member is a missionary. Throughout 2025, a total of 316 evangelistic programs has been conducted across the SEUM territory, resulting in 3,864 precious souls baptized into the body of Christ. What wonderful evidence of God’s Spirit moving powerfully in this region!

Mission in a Challenging Context
Fulfilling the gospel commission in a predominantly Buddhist region is no small task. Yet, SEUM leadership continues to emphasize the mission of expanding God’s kingdom, courageously breaking barriers and planting seeds of truth where the gospel light is still dim. Truly, the harvest is ready, and our workers have gone forth in faith.

Financial Faithfulness and Stewardship
Evangelism remains the top priority of the Treasury Department, ensuring that sufficient funds are directed toward soul-winning initiatives. We thank God for the faithfulness of church members in returning their tithes and offerings. This year, SEUM received 23.2 million baht in tithe, marking an 11% increase compared to last year. Combined offerings totaled 616,218 baht, reflecting a small 2% decrease — yet we remain grateful for every sacrifice made for the gospel.

Our working capital currently stands at 95.32%, while liquidity is at 49.11%. We continue to pray for God’s provision and the ongoing spiritual growth of our members, that their hearts may remain steadfast in supporting the gospel work financially.

Ministerial
The Ministerial and Ministerial Spouses Association (MSA) continues to nurture the spiritual growth and faithfulness of our pastors and their families. Presently, 590 pastors are faithfully serving across various mission fields, dedicated to leading, discipling, and strengthening local congregations. 74% of these pastors took part actively in evangelism. Recognizing the challenges and demands of ministry, we place great importance on professional development and emotional support for pastors. Regular retreats, seminars, and training programs are organized to help pastors grow in their leadership skills, deepen their biblical understanding, and maintain spiritual balance. Equally, the association provides a network of fellowship and care, ensuring that pastors and their spouses find encouragement, renewal, and strength as they continue serving God and His people with faith and joy.

Departments
The Stewardship Department plays a vital role in teaching members about the importance of spiritual faithfulness — recognizing God as the rightful Owner and Source of every blessing and making stewardship a way of life. Meanwhile, the Sabbath School Department ensures that Bible study becomes a daily spiritual discipline, leading to making every Sabbath School class an active and inspiring avenue for learning God’s Word together.

Education and Children’s Ministries continue to shape the future generation for Christ. SEUM operates 16 elementary schools, 18 academies, and 1 university, serving not just as centers of learning but as impactful centers of evangelism. We praise God that 400 baptisms this year came directly from our educational institutions. Behind every success story are dedicated teachers who faithfully integrate faith and learning in their classrooms. Through prayer, Bible study, and Christ-centered lessons, they nurture both the mind and the spirit of their students. Their commitment to modeling Christian values each day helps young people grow in faith, character, and service, preparing them to be strong witnesses for Christ in their communities and beyond.

The Youth Departments have also been vibrant and dynamic. Through leadership training, workshops, and evangelistic involvement, young people are being prepared to be leaders of today and the pillars of the church tomorrow. Pathfindering remains a vital, structured training program, developing youth to lead with Christlike character and readiness for the spiritual harvest. At present, there are 70 Pathfinder, Adventurer and Master Guide clubs actively training and nurturing young people for the Lord’s service.

The Communication Department plays a vital role in ensuring that the gospel is presented effectively in this digital era. Through the creative use of media, technology, and online platforms, the department works to expand the reach of evangelism beyond church walls. By supporting digital evangelism initiatives, it helps connect the message of hope to audiences both near and far – bridging faith and technology to proclaim Christ’s love to the world.

The Women’s Ministries continue to empower women for leadership and evangelism, while the Family Ministries emphasizes unity, love, and faith within the home — strengthening families to be lights in their communities. Various seminars and leadership trainings were conducted to equip women with spiritual, emotional, and practical skills for ministry. Through these gatherings, women were inspired to serve boldly, lead confidently, and become agents of compassion and hope in their churches and neighborhoods. Many testified that these trainings deepened their faith and renewed their commitment to share Christ in their families and communities.

The Health Ministries Department promotes healthy living and wellness outreach, building bridges to communities through the healing ministry of Christ. Meanwhile, the Publishing Department keeps spreading the message of hope through the printed page. This year, 125 Literature Evangelists have faithfully canvassed across the field, distributing spiritual books worth 935,252 baht as of September — bringing light and truth into thousands of homes. Their work, however, is not without challenges. Reaching out to predominantly Buddhist communities requires great patience, wisdom, and love. Many times, the seed of truth is planted quietly through friendly conversations, kind deeds, and the silent witness of the printed page. Yet, despite difficulties, our Literature Evangelists remain steadfast, believing that every book shared is a seed of hope that the Holy Spirit will one day cause to grow and bear fruit for God’s kingdom.

CONCLUSION
Truly, 2025 is a Year of Spiritual Harvest. Every soul reached, every seed planted, and every offering given reflects our united commitment to God’s mission. On behalf of the Southeastern Asia Union Mission (SEUM), we express our deepest gratitude to all church leaders, members, and the Southern Asia-Pacific Division for their unwavering support and partnership in mission. Let us continue to work hand in hand, staying faithful and diligent as we look forward to that glorious day when the final harvest is gathered — and Jesus Christ returns soon. To God be the glory — great things He has done!
