There are stories about Jesus that only you can tell. Not because your story is extraordinary, but because it is yours.
You know where Jesus found you. You know the prayers He answered — and perhaps the ones you are still waiting for Him to answer. You know the moments when He gave you peace, direction, forgiveness, strength or hope.
And somewhere around the world, someone may need to hear that story.
This is the heart of the OneVoice27 initiative. We can create videos, prepare campaigns and develop beautiful resources to introduce people to Jesus. But perhaps one of the most powerful resources we already have is the story of what Jesus has done in our own lives.
Here are five reasons that story matters.
1. You don’t have to know everything. Just tell what Jesus did.
When Jesus healed a man who had suffered for years, He gave him a very simple mission:
“Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you.” — Mark 5:19
Jesus did not tell him to wait until he knew enough.
He simply told him to share his story. Sometimes we hesitate to talk about Jesus because we think we do not know enough. We worry that someone might ask a question we cannot answer. But witnessing can begin with something much simpler: “Let me tell you what Jesus has done for me.”
2. Your story makes Jesus real to someone.
The man whom Jesus healed from blindness faced people who questioned him about Jesus.
His answer was simple: “One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” — John 9:25
He could not explain everything. But no one could take away what he had experienced. There is something powerful about a personal story. People may not immediately understand what we believe. But they can understand what it means to find peace when life is difficult, hope when everything seems uncertain or strength when we feel like giving up. Our stories help people see what following Jesus looks like in real life.
3. Someone may be going through what you went through.
Jesus said: “You will be my witnesses.” — Acts 1:8
Maybe your story is about an answered prayer. Maybe it is about grief. Maybe it is about finding purpose, rebuilding a relationship, overcoming fear or discovering that God was still there during one of the most difficult seasons of your life. We often do not know who is listening. The person watching your video or reading your post may be facing the same struggle you once faced. Your story may remind someone that there is still hope.
4. We have different stories, but they can point to the same Jesus.
This is what makes OneVoice27 beautiful. One voice does not mean everyone says exactly the same thing. Imagine thousands of people across different countries, cultures and languages sharing their own experiences with Jesus.
The stories will be different. The voices will be different. But the hope is the same.
Revelation 12:11 reminds us of the power of “the word of their testimony.” Our stories are not meant to make people look at us. They are meant to help people look toward Jesus.
5. Your story may be the beginning of someone else’s story with Jesus.
After the Samaritan woman met Jesus, she returned to her community and said:
“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did.” — John 4:29
That was her testimony. It was simple. Personal. Honest.
And then she invited others to meet Jesus for themselves. That is ultimately why we share. We are not trying to win an argument. We are not trying to impress people with how much we know. We are simply saying, “This is what Jesus has done for me. Maybe you would like to know Him too.”
What is your story of Jesus? Maybe we sometimes make sharing Jesus more complicated than it needs to be. Start with one story.
When did Jesus give you hope?
When did He answer a prayer?
When did you realize He was with you?
What difference has knowing Jesus made in your life?
Then share it.
Tell a friend. Write a post. Record a short video. Send someone a message. Share it in your own language, in your own words and in a way that sounds like you.
Because somewhere beyond our churches, our programs and even our digital campaigns are real people searching for hope.
Who knows, perhaps your story of Jesus is exactly what someone needs to hear today.
