TRUTH

If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.
James 1:26 NLT

TALK TO GOD
Lord, I know that words matter to You. Today, I ask that my husband truly grasp the power of his words. Stop him when he is about to speak carelessly, and help him recognize when he needs to apologize if his words have hurt someone. Even if he does not open Your Word today, find a way to show him how impactful words can be—perhaps through a meme on social media, a message on a billboard, or even a bumper sticker on a car.

I also pray for his heart, especially if he has been wounded by the words of others. If he has endured criticism or harsh and demeaning words, help him break free from condemnation. And if lies about his identity are lingering in his mind, replace them with the truth of how You see him. In Jesus’ name, amen.

THINK
What kind of words do you most often speak to your husband? Encouraging and affirming words? Exasperated words? Angry words? Critical words? Kind and loving words?

TAKE ACTION
Fast from speaking critical words to your husband for the next two weeks. When you find yourself frustrated, talk to God about it rather than speaking words of criticism to your husband.
