Suggested Activities for Church Entities in the Southern Asia-Pacific Division

As we approach the 150th anniversary of the Adventist Church’s mission to spread the gospel worldwide, we encourage all church entities within the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) to actively participate in this momentous occasion. This milestone offers a unique opportunity to unite in celebrating our shared heritage and recommitting to the mission. Below are suggested activities for various church entities to consider:

Suggested Activities
1. Sabbath Celebration

Sermon: Conduct a special Sabbath service with a sermon titled “Chosen for Mission: I Will Go.” This sermon will inspire members to reflect on their calling and the church’s missionary legacy.

Special Offering: Collect a special offering during this Sabbath to support the Mission Refocus initiative, aiding missionaries in challenging areas.

2. For Schools

Parade: Organize a parade celebrating the Adventist Church’s history and its pioneers, involving students and staff.

Tree Planting: Conduct a tree-planting activity to symbolize growth and the spreading of the gospel.

Quiz Bee: Host a quiz bee focusing on the church’s pioneers and history, encouraging students to deepen their understanding of our heritage.

3. For Churches

Feeding Programs: Arrange feeding programs in your local communities to serve and connect with those in need.

Supporting Vulnerable Children: Commit to helping 150 vulnerable children through various support programs, reflecting the compassion of Christ.

Blood Donation Drives: Organize blood donation drives, offering a practical way to save lives and show Christian love.

Distribution of The Great Controversy: Distribute copies of The Great Controversy to spread the message of hope and the gospel.

4. For Publishing Houses

Literature Distribution: Distribute literature books that highlight the church’s mission and teachings, reaching out to both Adventists and non-Adventists.

Tract Distribution: Provide tracts to churches for distribution during outreach activities, focusing on the church’s mission and history.

5. For Hospitals

Medical Missions: Organize medical missions in underserved areas, offering free medical services as an extension of Christ’s healing ministry.

Free Room Accommodation:Offer one day of free room accommodation to those in need, marking the anniversary with acts of kindness. (Optional)

Free Consultations: Provide free medical consultations to the first 150 patients, symbolizing the church’s commitment to health and wellness. (Optional)

6. For Hope Channel and AWR

Broadcasting Church Activities: Support the church by broadcasting special anniversary activities, ensuring that the celebration reaches a wider audience.

Simultaneous Sharing of Church Heritage: Collaborate in sharing the rich heritage of the Adventist Church across platforms, reminding members and viewers of our mission and legacy.

The 150th anniversary of the Adventist Church’s missionary work is a time to reflect, celebrate, and recommit to the mission. By engaging in these activities, each entity within the Southern Asia-Pacific Division can play a vital role in honoring our past and inspiring future generations to continue the work of spreading the gospel.
