"The call for Dr. Obed Jimenez is being processed by the various Church entities in the usual way."

The Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS) Board of Trustees voted to recommend Dr. Obed Jiménez to serve as the eighth president of the institution.

On June 5, 2018, Jiménez was recommended through the Presidential Search committee as the new AIIAS president succeeding Dr. Stephen Guptil who is retiring after thirteen years of service as president of the institution.

Prior to being voted as the new leader of the institution, Jiménez served as the president of the Antillean Adventist University (AAU) in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.

Jiménez was born in Brooklyn, New York and served the church for 30 years in Puerto Rico. Jiménez was known for his passion for education administration and for his fervent dependence in prayer while facilitating administrative tasks in the university. His dedication and commitment tobringing to students quality Christian education paved the way for opportunities to increase student enrollment both on campus and online. He earned his doctorate degree in religious education from Andrews University.

Jiménez and his wife, Marcia have two children. As the new president of AIIAS, Jiménez will oversee the institution’s administrative operations.
