Johnny Lubis was born and raised in Medan - North Sumatra Island of Indonesia. He joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church at age 12 while attending an evangelistic effort in his home town.
Since his baptism, Johnny devoted his life to the ministry and took heed of the Lord's call to be an evangelist in a highly populated country. Johnny holds a Bachelor's degree in Arts major in Theolgy from the Adventist University of the Philippines; and took his Master's degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Marketing in the same university.
Currently, he serves as the General Vice President of the Southern Asia Pacific Division of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
Prior to becoming the vice president of the divison, the Lord readied Johnny through past affiliations and services he was called to minister. He served as the president of the West Indonesia Union Mission (WIUM) from 2006 - 2010. He also served in the Publishing ministries in different organizations from 1979 to 2005. His ministry started in Jakarta Mission as a church pastor before he was called to be the Publishing and Spirit of Prophecy Director. after his term in Jakarta, he was then called to serve the Indonesia Publishing House as a Marketing Director. He then served the church through the West Indonesia Union Publishing, and the Southern Asia Pacific Publishing as Spirit of Prophecy Director for twelve years.
Johnny has been married to Poppy Lontoh for 40 years. They have been blessed with two sons, Deviano and Yovian.
Their daughter-in-law, Febby who was married to Deviano; and have grandsons, Fabian & Damian. While the youngest son, Yovian, was married to Crystal and have grandsons Cayden, Jayven & Landen.
Johnny & Poppy enjoy reading, walking, cooking, traveling, and serving others together. They love their family and they love the Lord.
