Hermogenes C. Villanueva or Henes, as friends call him, was born in Sariaya, Quezon, Philippines. In 1974, he accepted Christ in baptism and joined the Seventh-day Adventist church. Since then, he has been an active worker of the Lord for over 34 years.
Prior to his office in the Southern Asia-Pacific Division as the Sabbath School-Personal Ministries Director, he served as a district pastor, director and president of the South-Central Luzon Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in San Pablo City, Laguna, Philippines.
Henes acquired his Ministerial Course from the Philippine Union College (now Adventist University of the Philippines) in 1984. He went to Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies for his Master’s Degree and finished his Master of Pastoral Studies in 1988. He went back to AIIAS and completed his Doctorate Degree (Doctor of Ministry with the emphasis on Leadership/Administration) in 2011.
Henes is married to Luz Ilagan. Their marriage was blessed with five children Genel, a medical doctor; Nelgee, an industrial engineer; Negel, a dentistry student; Gelnee, an electronics and communication engineer; and Genlee, a senior high school student. He is a man who has a passion for souls.
He plays lawn tennis as his hobby.
